Sing it with me now:

“It’s gonna gonna gonna gonna gonna…. It’s gonna be MAY!”

(I was an *N Sync girl growing up, not Backstreet Boys – there, I said it)

It’s May 1st yall, and so begins the portion of the year that gets real exciting and everything starts to get crazy.

Of course the year thus far has already been busy – for starters, I built some shelves and a mantle from scratch for our living room!

I love the shelves SO much and the amount of cozy that they have added into our lives is through the roof. We already find ourselves sitting (even without a couch at the moment!) and enjoying each others’ company more in there than before and it makes me so happy. It’s also going to be the perfect stage for holiday décor and some products coming to SaveDamian.com/Shop soon!!!

The first few months of this year have also been focused on Damian’s feet healing from his surgery back in October. We ran into some hiccups in the healing process, but I think it’s safe to say that he has now made a full recovery from his surgery and Damian has been an all-star practicing standing in physical therapy and kicking in aquatic therapy!

Damian is also getting so good at floating (nearly all by himself) - he's been building up his neck strength to be able to do this! And how cute does he look in goggles!?

Last week I uploaded a new vlog on our YouTube channel sharing the whole story on his feet surgery and recovery, in case you are interested:

But the biggest win by far was when we FINALLY started Damian on a higher dosage of his experimental brain medication!

This topic deserves its own blog post, but for now I’ll just echo what I’ve been saying on Instagram the last few weeks – I think it’s helping. I’m trying to be pragmatic and not just see what I want to see, but I keep noticing certain behaviors starting to become more regular occurrences and thinking “I can’t be making this up, right??”

We are on track to increase his dosage again in June and thankfully we don’t have to go to the FDA for approval this time – we’re all set as far as the bureaucracy is concerned and we already have the appointment scheduled for his first in-clinic dose administration. Anything can (and often does) happen on this crazy train, but we should be all set (knock on wood). And I’m so hopeful that increasing the dosage will optimize the drug’s efficacy. This medication has done so much good for us and I’m hoping we can squeeze more out of it while we continue to fundraise for the “2.0” version that is being worked on right now.

Speaking of fundraisers, it’s now officially FUNDRAISER SEASON!

Ok, it’s always fundraiser season around here, but this is the time of the year we are ramping up the creative projects in a BIG way. There is a lot coming down the pike, but May is also an especially big month of family celebrations (and as you may recall from my 2025 resolutions list, that’s a priority this year)!

MAY: The Month of Celebrations!

I’m so excited to share our calendar with you! Let me know what you're most excited for!

Kicking off "Crazy Fundraiser" Season

Like I said, we are always fundraising – every time someone watches our YouTube videos (yes, we raise money just from that!), uses our links to shop on Amazon, purchases anything from our shop, or makes a direct donation of any size. Your help means EVERYTHING to me. Absolutely absolutely everything.

But I think everyone (me included) gets especially excited for the really crazy fundraisers, right?

And so, to kick off the start of Crazy Fundraiser season –  let’s start with an audacious goal:

$24 by May 24th

If just 417 people donated $24 by May 24th (Damian’s birthday!!) we will raise $10,000. I KNOW WE CAN DO IT!!! To help us get there and to spread the word, I’m committing to posting shareable content repeatedly throughout the month so all you have to do to help us reach our goal is share it!

We can absolutely do this!! Let's go!!

PS - Can you believe my baby is turning... six?
